I Love You
We love because He first loved us. - 1 John 4:19
I Love You
We are a family that says “I Love You.” We say it a lot. We say it when we hang up the phone. We say it when we go to sleep. We say it when we leave each other, even if it's just to run to the store, or to go to work or school or a friend's house. We say it just because.
We have even had circumstances where one of our kids might be irritated with me and hang up without saying it, and I have called them back to say it again and give them another “opportunity” to say it to me. And on rare occasions, Lanikai and I might even be irritated with each other as we go to bed, but we always say “I Love You.”
Sometimes, we get a hard time about it from our sons, but Lanikai and I always say the same thing... “You never know when we are going to speak our last words to each other. So we want to make sure they are 'I Love You.'”
As Coulter walked out of the house the last time, those were the last words we said to each other. When we talked to his last friend to see him, he shared that those were the last words spoken between them.
I Love You, were the last words Coulter shared with many people.
Coulter knew he was loved, and he knew how to love and express his love for others.
The love that he received and the love that he gave to others originated from His Heavenly Father, who loves Coulter and who loves you so much that He gave us His Word as a 2,000-page love letter, helping us understand who He is, how much He loves us, and how to live our lives in a way that will be most fulfilling.
He loved us so, that He entered into His creation and took on the consequences of our betrayals against Him, so that we could be with Him. Coulter trusted and accepted that Love from his Father, even if he could not see how to trust Him for another tomorrow.
We encourage you to trust in that Love as well. And also, to never pass up a chance to share the words “I Love You.”
We are grateful that the last words our son heard from us were words he had heard thousands of times before: “I Love You.”
You Are Loved More Than You Know.
