You are Loved More than You Know

Coulter Pittman was born on October 3rd 2007, in Oceanside, California. From his earliest days, before he could speak, people would see his pensive look and comment that they wondered what his thoughts were. Over the years, that deep thinking developed into a keen intellect and fierce determination, with which he was able to dissect, debate, and answer life’s most important and challenging questions.

But also from his earliest days, he had a deep love for God’s beauty. With his first 7 years of life being spent in North County San Diego of Southern California by the Pacific, he saw that beauty daily and developed a deep love of the ocean. As a tiny child still in a car seat, he would often see the sunset over the water and profess, “Isn’t it beautiful.” That love of beauty and the call of exploration grew into a passion for Maritime Archaeology, which he dreamed of pursuing from his early childhood and drove him on to become an advanced SCUBA diver.

At the age of 8 he moved with his family to Boerne, TX. But because of his devotion to friendship, he maintained relationships with those close to him in California. In Boerne, he built a community of wonderful friends as he attended Summit (Crestmont), and eventually Champion High School, where he graduated in 2025.

He was musically gifted with an eclectic love of music, a wonderful voice, an incredible memory for lyrics, and an ability to learn music by ear that was referred to by a music teacher as a gift that they had never before seen.

He had a love of the outdoors and was an accomplished backpacker, able to carry heavy loads over many miles and conquer mountains.

He was often described as the funniest person you would ever meet. He had a quick wit and a roguish, crooked smile that brought immense joy to his family and friends. He was willing to be goofy and to dance purely for the joy of it and knew how to laugh and how to make others laugh.

He knew and loved His Heavenly Father and trusted in Him for his forgiveness. He was kind. He was generous. He was good. He loved well, and he loved fiercely. And he was loved more than he knew.

Without warning or indication, at the age of 18, he took his own life on March, 17th 2026. The reason he offered was that he felt like he was not enough and he carried a heavy weight that he did not want to share with others, for fear that it would harm them.

What he didn’t realize was that the burdens we hide do not disappear. They are either shared with those who love us, or they eventually become a weight carried by the people we leave behind.

He is missed every moment.
